About Brock

You don't have to figure it all out alone.

I'm Brock Hudson (they/them), a queer, non-binary, neurocomplex mama, parent coach, youth development leader, and family consultant with more than 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, parents, caregivers, educators, and communities.

My work is shaped by both my professional experience and my lived experience as a neurodivergent parent raising a neurodivergent child. I know what it's like to love your child deeply, want the very best for them, and still find yourself wondering:

“Why isn't any of this working?”

That's often where my work begins.

I Help You Look Beneath the Behavior

I believe every behavior has meaning.

When a child is refusing, melting down, shutting down, avoiding, exploding, or struggling to participate, I don't start with:

“How do we make them stop?”

I start with:

“What is happening underneath this?”

Together, we look at your child's nervous system, neurotype, environment, relationships, expectations, and unmet needs so you can better understand what your child is communicating and what they need from you.

My goal isn't to give you another list of strategies.

It's to help you understand your child well enough to know which strategies are worth trying.

My Approach

My work is:

Neurodiversity-affirming

I don't believe children need to be made more “typical” in order to thrive.

Trauma-informed

We pay attention to safety, stress, nervous-system responses, and the experiences underneath behavior.

Attachment-based

Relationships matter. We focus on creating safety and connection without making connection synonymous with compliance.

Relationship-centered

We're not trying to create a perfectly behaved child. We're building relationships where everyone can feel more understood and supported.

Curious and practical

We'll experiment, notice what happens, learn from it, and try again.

Who I Work With

My primary work is with parents and caregivers raising autistic, ADHD, and PDA kids, particularly when traditional parenting approaches aren't working.

I support families navigating:

  • Meltdowns and shutdowns

  • Demand avoidance and resistance

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • School refusal and school challenges

  • Transitions

  • Executive functioning differences

  • Emotional regulation

  • Screens and technology

  • Family conflict

  • New diagnoses

  • Parent burnout

  • Advocacy and accommodations

I also have a particular passion for supporting:

  • LGBTQIA2S+ families

  • Queer and trans parents

  • Gender-expansive youth

  • Gender-creative children

  • Families navigating identity and belonging

The Four Things We Come Back To

UNDERSTAND

Find the meaning beneath the behavior.

RESPOND

Parent for the child you actually have.

ADVOCATE

Help your child get what they need in the world.

BELONG

Find your people and know you're not alone.

These aren't four steps you complete. They're practices we return to again and again as our children and families grow and change.

My Professional Background

For more than 20 years, I've worked in youth development, education, leadership development, training, facilitation, and family support.

My professional training includes certifications as a Connected Parenting™ Certified Coach and Autism Support Coach. Together with my professional and lived experience, these trainings inform my relationship-centered, neurodiversity-affirming approach to supporting children, families, and adults.

My training and experience help me look at the whole picture—what's happening beneath behavior, how relationships and nervous systems shape our experiences, and what kinds of support help people feel safe enough to learn, grow, and thrive.

I've supported:

  • Children and teens

  • Parents and caregivers

  • Adults

  • Educators

  • Youth-serving professionals

  • Schools

  • Nonprofits

  • Community organizations

Today, that experience comes together through Brock Hudson Coaching, where I offer parenting coaching, individual coaching, parenting groups, professional development, workshops, speaking, and consultation.

Beyond Parenting Coaching

While neurodiversity-affirming parenting is the heart of my practice, you don't have to be a parent to work with me.

Individual Coaching

I also work with adults navigating:

  • Life transitions

  • Career questions

  • Professional identity

  • Burnout

  • Decision-making

  • Personal growth

  • Creating a life that better fits who they are

What I Hope You Experience Here

I don't expect you to arrive with everything figured out.

You might be exhausted.

You might be grieving the parenting experience you thought you'd have.

You might be questioning everything you've been told about parenting.

You might simply be thinking:

“I love my kid. I just need help understanding them.”

That's enough.

My job isn't to judge you or hand you a perfect parenting formula.

It's to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, honesty, and practical support while you figure out what your family actually needs.

Because when parents feel supported and understood, they have more capacity to understand and support their kids.

And when kids feel understood, families have more room for connection, resilience, and joy.

Let's Work Together

Not sure where to start?

You don't have to figure that out before reaching out.
